PAGE 2--METHOD: HOW TO ACCESS A "PAST LIFE"

Many people use various forms of the same exercise. When I do a Past Life Access exercise with someone else I might use a longer or shorter version of the method because intuitively I am trying to sense what they need. Also, I often go on their journey with them and see the same images they are seeing.

It's all about getting relaxed and turning inward. And if you are worried about accessing a traumatic or frightening past life you can simply state your intention that you will only access a happy one--or happy portions of one. Having said that, I would recommend that you just allow your Inner Being (Higher Self  or God) to guide you  to the past life and images that you most need to see right now.

The purpose of past life recall --or "Other Life Awareness" is to see what you learned or could have learned in that one life--information that can assist you to understand this one better. I have found mine to be extremely helpful this way.

MY METHOD

You can have a knowledgeable friend or guide with you as you do your first one. They can make written or mental notes as you speak about what you are seeing while in trance. However, you can do it alone just as well. You can also suggest, upon retiring to bed, that you will have a dream about another lifetime. Anything traumatic that you might view, in my experience, has a distance to it that allows you to be an observer, and not a participant. If you see that you were experiencing pain in the other life--you will not feel it now.

You can also tape record these instructions and play them back as you do the exercise.

  • So lie down or sit down in a comfortable chair. Check your body to see that nothing will distract you--for instance-- a belt that is too tight. Close your eyes and set your intention in your mind to view "another you" in another lifetime.

  • Then begin to count back down from 10 to 1 slowly-- aligning your out-breath with each number. Give yourself the suggestion to "relax" at the end of each out-breath. 
  • As you reach 10 begin to feel your body getting lighter and lighter. Imagine that you are so light that you are beginning to float up off the place where you are lying.
  • Imagine yourself floating up through the roof the building you are in. 
  • Imagine you can see the city or town or land below you--moving away.
  • Imagine yourself floating higher and higher. Now you can see curvature of the earth...then the whole earth below you. Look around and see the stars.
  • Imagine yourself becoming more and more vast as you do this. You are becoming a part of your Vast Inner Being who lives all of your lives. This should be a delightful feeling.

  • Then imagine yourself coming back down towards the Earth getting smaller and smaller--human size.
  • Tell yourself that you are coming back to Earth in a different time and place. Not this lifetime.
  • Then feel yourself landing on earth. Open your inner "spirit-eyes" (keeping your physical eyes closed) and look at your feet. Notice all you can about them. (if you begin to wonder if you are just imagining this...let it go. Just go with the flow of the images. Trust them.)
  • Try to get a sense of your gender and age. Also try for a general location. Indoors or out? Country or town? Past or future? Century?
  • If it is a traumatic image, allow yourself to just hover above it and observe  it all detachedly.
  • Look around your general location.
  • Then just allow whatever other thoughts and images come to you as they will. Don't try to control it.
  • Images, thoughts and feelings might just pop into your awareness.
  • Speak of what you are seeing or feeling to your friend in the room where you are lying physically...but only in a sleepy way...so as not to break your trance.
  •  
  • When you feel complete, count your self  UP from 1-10 suggesting to yourself that you are coming more awake with each number and slow in-breath-out-breath. Tell yourself you will gain much benefit from your journey and will experience increased well-being because of what you have seen.
  • At the count of 10 open your eyes and look around the room. Come back into the present and notice details. Then have a cup of tea with yourself or your friend and discuss, or write down what you experienced.
  • Contemplate the experience from time to time and even more understanding will come to you about that life and how it relates to this one. More will come to you that is useful to your spiritual growth in this lifetime.
